Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – TEXPAC, the political advocacy arm of the Texas Medical Association (TMA), has endorsed Rep. Wayne Faircloth (R- Galveston) for reelection to Texas House of Representatives District 23.
“TEXPAC is pleased to endorse Representative Faircloth for reelection to the Texas House so he can continue his work protecting Texas patients and their physicians,” said TEXPAC Chair Robert Rogers, MD.
“Representative Faircloth has fought for adequate graduate medical education (GME) funding, so Texas can train and retain good young physicians to establish practices here,” said Dr. Rogers. “He understands that supporting GME funding presents the best path to growing our physician workforce to care for Texas patients.
“He also understands that insurance companies should not limit insurance networks, driving patients out of network; nor should they deny medically appropriate care,” said Dr. Rogers. “He believes, too, that insurers should pay physicians for the care they provide to patients.”
Dr. Rogers said Representative Faircloth also has backed physicians on important public health and population health policies vital to ensuring Texans’ good health.
“For these reasons and more, TEXPAC is pleased to back Representative Faircloth for reelection,” said Dr. Rogers.
TEXPAC speaks on behalf of more than 51,000 Texas physicians and medical students, and approximately 4,000 TMA Alliance volunteer members. Organized in 1962, TEXPAC is one of the oldest political action committees in Texas. TEXPAC also is one of the largest bipartisan PACs in the state and ranks first in size among other state medical association PACs.
