Lehman to Retire as Texas Realtor’s Long-Time Govt. Affairs Leader

“During his 21+ years, Mark’s grown our Governmental Affairs Division to become the ‘Gold Standard’ among organizations.”

AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — “I am confident in the long-term vision of the Texas Realtors Association, and leave knowing the association’s future is in outstanding hands,” said Texas Realtor’s Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Mark Lehman, as the group’s President & CEO Travis Kessler announced Lehman’s upcoming retirement effective December 31, 2019.

The Texas REALTORS® announced earlier today that Lehman will retire as the association’s Vice President of Governmental Affairs after more than two decades of service.

“During his 21-plus years with the Texas Realtors, Mark has grown our association’s Governmental Affairs Division to become the ‘Gold Standard’ among advocacy organizations,” said President & CEO Travis Kessler (right).

“On behalf of Texas Realtor’s leadership, and our entire membership from all across Texas, I extend our heartfelt gratitude for Mark’s years of service, and most of all, for his service to every real estate consumer in Texas,” Kessler said.

Lehman will officially step down from the role on December 31, 2019, following a distinguished career advocating for real estate consumers and professionals.

“My respect and admiration for the work that Texas Realtors accomplish has no limits,” Lehman said.

Lehman joined the realtors association in 1998 as Director of Governmental Affairs, ascending to Vice President of Governmental Affairs in 2004.

In his role as Vice President of Governmental Affairs, Lehman is responsible for coordinating all legislative and political activities for the 120,000 member association, including its Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC). Lehman’s primary focus centers on legislation that directly affects the real estate industry and the rights of private-property owners in Texas.

Mr. Lehman is a 2018 inductee into the RPAC Hall of Fame.

Lehman has also published two public blogs. His professional blog titled “In Lehman’s Terms” sought to simplify complex legislative jargon into more understandable concepts, and his bi-monthly faith-based blog was entitled “The Shoe Box Chronicles.”

Lehman’s previous professional roles include campaign director for now-U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s successful Attorney General of Texas campaign, he served as Chief of Staff for former Texas Senator Florence Shapiro, and has held numerous other campaign positions at the national, state, and local levels.

The Texas REALTORS®, with more than 120,000 members, is one of the largest professional membership associations in Texas. They represent realtors involved in all aspects of real estate, and advocate on behalf of the real estate industry and private-property owners.
