“We’ve cut tax rates below the effective rate for 8 years in a row, and by over 15.86%,” says County Commissioner Ken Clark
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas — “When Republicans took over in 2011, the tax rate was over .63 cents. Today its under .54 cents. I would submit to you that we’re one of the only counties in recent memory that’s achieved budget savings by eliminating 9 elected officials,” said Galveston County Commissioner Ken Clark.
“Its been through the diligence of the Conservative Republicans on the County Commissioners Court.
“We’ve cut tax rates below the effective rate for 8 years in a row, and by over 15.86% – that’s below the ‘No New Revenue’ tax rate – and delivered tax cuts to all Galveston County residents.
“I’m one of those who feels that you, the taxpayer, can spend your money better than the government can,” Clark tells Insider’s Jim Cardle.
