On law enforcement appreciation day, Governor Abbott announced $23 million dollars in grant money will be spent on bulletproof vests.
More than $350,000 dollars for 399 rifle resistant, body armor vests are headed to law enforcement agencies in the Brazos Valley.
Brazos County is receiving 130 vests, Texas A&M police is receiving 81 vests, College Station police 27 vests, and Blinn College 21 vests.
Agencies in surrounding counties receiving vests includes the cities of Navasota and Brenham, along with Grimes, Burleson, Milam, and Leon counties.
