LITTLEFIELD – Simply Christmas Lunch and Learn is a holiday-themed series to be conducted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in four South Plains counties the last week of November.
The noon to 1 p.m. programs, all with the same format, are slated for Castro, Bailey, Lamb and Parmer counties, said Dr. Angela Burkham, AgriLife Extension family and community health state program leader at Amarillo.
Series dates, sites and associated counties will be:
- Nov. 27, Our Place, 301 S. Ripley Ave., Littlefield, Lamb County.
- Nov. 28, Bailey County Electric Co-op, 610 E. American Blvd., Muleshoe, Bailey County.
- Nov. 29, Dimmitt Senior Citizens Center, 218 W. Jones St., Dimmitt, Castro County.
- Nov. 30, XIT Recreation Center, 205 North St., Bovina, Parmer County.
“The focus of the Simply Christmas series is not only to demonstrate economical and great-tasting recipes, but also to help participants plan a holiday season focused on family and fun,” Burkham said. “The family and community health agents in each of the participating counties will teach the classes. Among their topics will be instruction on how to properly use the new electric pressure cookers. The cookers are fast becoming the ‘go-to’ tool for many busy families and should see much use, especially now that the holidays are almost here.”
Registration is $15 due upon arrival and will include lunch, a cookbook and, according to Burkham, a full helping of holiday inspiration. To register and for more information, call Felice Acker at 806-647-4117.
“For over a century now, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has served as a reliable source for nutrition, meal planning, food safety and positive family relations,” Burkham said. “The Simply Christmas programs are yet another example of that rich heritage. The programs promise to be fun, informative and inspirational, and since they only last an hour, they’ll probably be over much too soon for some.”
